Vocational Education and Training (VET) is competency based and directly job-related. VET courses are great for students who like study that is practical and hands-on. Courses at Windsor High School can be offered through:
Students can obtain nationally recognised qualifications in areas as varied as aviation, animal care, aged care, children's services, automotive mechanics, hairdressing, plumbing and nursing. VET in school courses count towards both the HSC and a nationally recognised vocational qualification, some of them count twards a UAI. School-based New Apprenticeships provide the option of starting a traineeship or apprenticeship while still at school and students actually earn a wage as they work and study. In this way, young people can keep their options open after school. For a full discription of these courses please see the Senior Course Handbook. Please don't hesitate to contact me at school (by phone, email or in person) if you would like to discuss any of the links or programs you find as you explore this site. Y.Calvert TRAINEESHIPS All students are working part time and completing a vocational course as part of their traineeship. Both the course and their paid work are part of their HSC as well as being accredited by the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) giving students a national qualification. Most students agree that this is a good way to combine study for the HSC with paid work and, because students are putting the theory they learn into practice, they find the study much easier. We congratulate our trainees and thank their employers for participating in the program. |
