LITTLE RIVER CAMP 2009 Once again Year 7 students attended the Little River Camp for 2009. This year students participated in more arduous activities than previous years. As well as the usual flying fox, orienteering and raft building activities, longer bush walks, abseiling and tougher canoeing activities were added. The five kilometre bush walks that were introduced were hard work, where students had to walk up steep slopes and across ridges. The students proved equal to the task, learning about native plants and topographical features as they walked. Night activities included a sing down and search game around a roaring camp fire. Damper cooking and a mini Olympics was another feature of the 2009 camp. The three guides, Ari, Khan and Steve were impressed by all who attended, including the teachers, who were as enthusiastic as the students. Mr Bonaccorso’s team won both competitions. The sing down was impressive with Mrs Kreiss’ team a close second. Gemma was the star singer. Mr Hawes team pushed Mr Bonaccorso’s team but couldn’t quite beat them in the raft race. Teachers were impressed with the behaviour and attitude of students and voted the camp the best ever. Students agreed that the camp was a great success and are planning the year 8 camp in 2010. |
