The smooth transition from primary school to high school is important to us at Windsor. To facilitate this, we conduct several activity days that allow students to develop a closer liaison with our school.

Our activity days include:

  • Performing Arts’ Workshops planned for Year 6 students in March. Mixed groups of students will experience music, drama and dance workshops.

  • Science and Applied Studies Workshops for Year 6 students in May. Mixed groups of students will work in the commercial kitchens, technics rooms and science laboratories on a variety of tasks.

  • To celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week we are again planning a Problem Solving Challenge in September for Year 6 and Year 7 students. Mixed teams of students will work on problem solving activities. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams and each student will receive a certificate.

  • Gala Sports Day will again be held in November. School teams will compete in soccer and T-ball. The day will be organized and run by the sports studies class.

  • On Orientation Day in December, Year 6 students will be entertained by Windsor High Year 7 students, informed by peer support students, as well as experience interesting lessons in different key learning areas.

As well as these activities, we could arrange for Year 7 students to return to their primary schools to showcase Windsor High School and talk about their new experiences. We feel that these days will ensure that your students will feel comfortable when they become Windsor High School students in 2010 and beyond. We hope that you will include these activities on your calendar and promote them in your community.

An Information Night and Getting to Know You BBQ is held in February 2010. Each year we speak to parents at the Year 6 Meet the Teacher nights. These meetings are invaluable to not only inform our partner schools' community about our school but also to promote Public Education.
