INDIGENOUS STUDENTS' CAREERS DAY
On Wednesday 1 September representatives from UWS and TAFE spoke to students in the library about courses and support services available at these tertiary institutions.

The next day students travelled to Minto to attend Indigenous Students’ Careers’ Day.

Students had to pick three of the eight workshops that had been organized. These workshops included:The Secrets To Finding A Job, Job Network, New Apprenticeships, TAFE, Jobs For School Leavers, Career Planning, University and Training For Work While At School.

At “The Secrets of Finding a Job” workshop students met Leah Purcell, who has starred in Lantana and Black Chicks Talking. She was very motivating and told students that it is important to take advantage of the opportunities that a good education can provide.

Macquarie University representatives spoke about courses and traineeships. Job Network provided information about how they could help get a job by providing resume making services and interview technique training. All students particularly Year 12 found this day useful.

“The Indigenous students’ Careers’ Day was very helpful and a lot of information was given out. As from today I now know what I want to be in life and how I can go about pursuing my career, dreams and goals.” by Tammie Edwards.
